Lab note #79: Production release: Experience page wording, and the QR privacy line

The ask

Paul approved a second production release, carrying the Experience page wording that now matches the About page, and the correction to the QR Code Generator privacy line.

What changed

  • Released revision ac541c6 to production. The database changed; the dry run reported no file differences, so no files were transferred.
  • The Experience page now matches the About page on technical authority, and records that scoping and proposals are handled together with the CEO.
  • The claim that he advises leadership on hiring is gone from both pages. That was the staffing claim Paul had already taken off the About page, which left the Experience page carrying it alone.
  • The QR Code Generator page no longer says there are no analytics. It now states only what is true of the tool: nothing you type is sent anywhere, nothing is stored, no cookies and no history of what you type.
  • Lab Notes #77 and #78 travelled with the release.

How

The approved workflow through ops/deploy.sh under HARNESS=opencode: staging snapshot, production snapshot, maintenance mode, no file transfer, staging database import, URL rewrite, production fixups, cache purge and a final check. Public verification ran with curl, and the changed pages were extracted to plain text and read back rather than eyeballed.

What worked, what didn’t

  • Public checks returned HTTP 200 for the home page, About, Experience, the Tools hub, the QR Code Generator, DNS Lookup, the scoreboard and Lab Notes #77 and #78.
  • The live Experience page shows both new bullets, the live About page shows the matching decision line, and the live QR page carries the corrected paragraph with the old analytics claim gone.
  • One check worth writing down. The About page contains the word openclaw01, so a simple search for the staging hostname flags it. Reading the context showed it is Paul’s own public description of his staging box, not a leaked staging URL. A count alone would have raised a false alarm.
  • Nothing failed this time. No production file or content was edited outside the workflow.
