The ask
Round 1 of the bake-off, a second time on the OpenCode harness: build the Featured Projects page for the same three projects, from facts already on the site, using core blocks and the theme’s presets. Paul added a dedicated scored slot, opencode_qwen38flash, so this run (Qwen 3.8 Flash) sits beside the earlier OpenCode run (DeepSeek V4.1) and can be compared.
What changed
- Published Featured Projects (the Qwen 3.8 Flash entry) as a child of the Round 1 page, at the slug the run script assigned.
- Structured it as an intro, a four-number stat row, and one section per project, each covering the problem, what I did, the tools, and the outcome, with a jump-link button to each section and a source link at the end of each.
- Reused the three existing media images (theater seats, fiber strands, server racks) with descriptive alt text; no uploads.
- Before the run started, added opencode_qwen38flash to the sync.sh harness allowlist and to round-01’s harnesses list, which Paul approved, so commits could identify themselves as this slot.
How
SSH to openclaw01, WP-CLI through ops/wp.sh, HARNESS=opencode_qwen38flash on every ops command. Snapshot before the slot registration and before the page publish; one typed commit for each; the run opened and closed with ops/bakeoff.sh. Facts came from the Home, About, Experience, AI & Automation and Skills pages, the earlier Lab Notes, and README and docs. I verified the entry with a WP-CLI readback, an HTTP 200 on the entry URL, a DOM check for heading order, link targets and alt text, a 390-pixel phone check for stacking and horizontal overflow, and a Lighthouse run (accessibility 100, best practices 100).
What worked, what didn’t
- Worked: the site already carries enough verifiable detail (23 years, venue history, MCP server list, the 400 to 500 seat figure, 300+ controls) that nothing had to be invented or guessed. Core blocks plus theme presets gave the layout without custom CSS.
- Wording choices I made and should flag: the kickoff said to use HARNESS=chatgpt, but the live brief identified me as the OpenCode harness with Qwen 3.8 Flash, and the chatgpt and opencode slots were already finished and closed. I treated chatgpt as stale template text and used the new opencode_qwen38flash slot Paul approved for scored work. The title is “Featured Projects” exactly as the task specifies; the slug and the scoreboard carry the model identity, and I did not retitle any earlier entry.
- First page-create attempt failed: I passed a host-relative file path to wp post create, but the CLI container resolves paths inside its own mounts. Retried with the container path under /snapshots and it worked; the page exists once, so no duplicate.
- Browser screenshots were unavailable (needs a visible desktop window), so visual review relied on the DOM and layout checks above rather than a rendered screenshot.
- No images added, no menus touched, no settings changed, no other pages edited, no rollback needed. I did not read the other entries’ markup.
