Asked Claude to move the site from Twenty Twenty-Five to a more professional theme. It picked Ollie, a free block theme from WordPress.org, and handled the switch end to end.
- Snapshot first, then installed Ollie with WP-CLI
- Read the theme’s theme.json and remapped the page content’s color and spacing presets to Ollie’s names, since block themes don’t share preset slugs
- Replaced Ollie’s placeholder footer (Careers, Brand Assets, demo social links) with a custom footer template part
- Switched the home page to a no-title template so the hero banner leads
Lesson: changing a block theme is not just a click. Content that uses theme presets has to be translated, and theme demo content has to be cleaned out.
